Commanders sign Jeff Driskel off the Cardinals' practice squad and put Cosmi, Lane, Goldman on IR
Quarterback Jeff Driskel signed with the Washington Commanders on Monday, giving them another last-resort option at that position with Jayden Daniels shut down for the season and top backup Marcus Mariota dealing with hand and leg injuries.
The Washington Commanders only made one move before tomorrow’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tight end depth was thin with Zach Ertz on IR, and Colson Yankoff dealing with an ankle injury. Washington was down to John Bates and Ben Sinnott on the active roster.
Elsewhere on the ex-Bronco front, guard Netane Muti was cut from the Detroit Lions ' practice squad, the Los Angeles Chargers signed running back Royce Freeman to their practice squad and the New England Patriots cut practice squad offensive lineman Sebastian Gutierrez.
As they prepare to play on a short week, the Commanders are adding depth under center. Jeff Driskel is being signed off the Cardinals’ practice squad, per veteran reporter Ben Standig. The move is now official.

Washington Commanders vs Dallas Cowboys Inactives: Christmas illness knocks out another starter
Earlier this morning, the Commanders added RB Chris Rodriguez Jr to the injury report with an illness, and listed him as questionable. He’s inactive for today’s game. The Washington Commanders seem intent on missing a great opportunity to find out what they have in backup QB Sam Hartman in Week 17.
The Commanders elevated Cracraft from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday.
